Essential Support Project

The training and education arm of the Essential Staff group of companies is running a ten week AQA accredited program, which aims to increase learning and skills development for single mums going back into workforce - we call this the Essential Support Project, or ESP.

Who Benefits and How?

Working in collaboration with the National Lottery Trust fund, we have identified single mothers, or those single handedly supporting a family or network of individuals that is ACTIVELY looking to get vocational courses to improve their industry offering.

Over a ten week period, ETS will deliver two weekly workshops for lone parent mothers aged 18-45 who are NEET (Not in Employment, Education or Training).

Course Content

A combination of guest industry specialist lecturers and our internally qualified tutors will devote their time to ensure that all our students are fully equipped with employment skills to gain work.

During the 20 sessions, the ESP course aims to:

  • Setting targets
  • Handling information at work
  • Job and training search skills
  • Job application skills
  • Interview skills
  • Being safe and healthy at work
  • Build confidence
  • Increase self-esteem
  • Develop Interpersonal skills
  • Build motivation
  • CV Writing
  • Links with local employers
  • Helping arrange work placements
  • Learn how to make coffees and cocktails (Level 1)
  • Customer service

Course Aims

The working world is an ever changing environment and we at ETS are fully aware of the changes – namely with our vast client and candidate requirements.

We have designed ESP to enable learners to explore a broad range of essential skills. This includes the softer-skills, such as job hunting, interview preparation, career progression and development and entrepreneurial services.

Our students will be provided with study material, with actions and activities designed to reinforce the learning process and test their knowledge.

Each student is required to create a portfolio of evidence, which demonstrates achievement of all learning outcomes associated with each unit.

Our ESP program will enable our students to further develop their own continuous professional development, improve career prospects or progress to further training or work experience.
